I am a small business owner in St. Louis. I would guess that there are probably tens of thousands of others like me. I would also venture a guess that like me, every other small business owner faces stiff competition, from large Fortune 500 companies down to other smaller companies more like themselves.
Are you a blogger or small business owner fighting the good fight every day? I want to hear from you. Why are you using social media? Beyond that, what is working for you as you try to grow your business? I would like to know, and I would like to tell the world about it here.
For me, the biggest problem I have with the competition is awareness. No one knows I exist. I would think a lot of people would gladly pay the same price for a toner cartridge, for example, from a local company over a chain store, if they only knew that company was around.
That is one of my goals in using social media, to show the world I do exist, and that a real person sits behind it all, and that I am a preferable option to a large corporation.
I am going to write more here about what I am doing to grow my business, what is working for me and what is not, and at the same time, I want to spotlight other small business owners so we can all learn something from each other.
To get the process started, I created what I am calling a Business Owners Interview. It is just a few questions about you and your business. I invite you to fill one out. I will then turn your interview into a post, giving you a link back to your site (and a little publicity).
Please fill out an interview today and get us started.
Please note: I am not going to use your data for anything but what I described above, and will never provide it to anyone. I will not publish your email, but anything else you send me is likely to appear on this blog.
