Pale Divine Reunion!!

08/10/2008

This show should generate some buzz I would think, especially as it gets closer. (It is still over 140 days away, see the countdown clock. That will make sense if you keep reading.)

Anyone from around here (St. Louis, not my office), my age or a bit older, will remember this local band from back in the day. You may alternatively remember them as ‘The Eyes’. They were an amazing band, one of the best live bands I have ever seen. (And I have seen a lot, so take my word for it, they rocked.)

It’s been about 15 years since they parted ways, but now comes word that there is a reunion show coming to The Pageant in St. Louis on December 29th, 2008. I have seen a couple other blogs report this news, specifically The 52nd City Blog and The Riverfront Times, and someone went so far as to register the domain name paledivinereunion.com, complete with a countdown clock until the show, (you know, in case you want to know exactly how long you have to wait).

Be advised, there is still no word from the Pageant regarding tickets, or even anything that might be considered an official announcement from anyone; That said, I have seen for myself confirmations from two former band members.

For those out of touch, or unfamiliar, become familiar (again).
Here is Pale Divine’s Myspace page.

Here are some other related goodies:

Did you know former Pale Divine
lead singer Michael Schaerer plays around St. Louis a couple times a
week?

You do now, check out the calendar at his site (Only works in
IE, I am afraid)

Former guitarist Richard Fortus’ site: 4tus.com

He’s
made great use of his time since Pale Divine dissolved, check out what
he’s been up to.

Anyway, see you at the show. Provided I can get my hands on some tickets.

Who the heck is Pale Divine???

Pale Divine is (was) a band that ruled the St.Louis music scene in the early nineties. They were supremely talented, and were one of the first bands in the area to sign a record contract with a major record company (Atlantic). They put out one album and broke up shortly before recording their second. The guitar player moved to NYC and became a very successful musician, eventually landing the gig he still has, guitar player for Guns n’ Roses.
