It seems to me some of the stupidest fights people have with businesses over customer service occur when managers take a too rigid interpretation of company policy to an extreme, failing to apply common sense in the process.
Case in point: a manager at a Burger King in Sunset Hills, MO refused to allow a woman, her mother and her child, to eat in the restaurant because the child was not wearing shoes. However, the child was a six month old infant.
Rules is rules I suppose. But not even putting a pair of socks on the baby got the manager off the ledge, as he continued to threaten to call the police while the group ate as fast as possible. Why they gave Burger King their business after this episode is still unclear.
I can only hope the rigid devotion to company policy displayed under duress earns this manager the promotion he so clearly deserves.
