If You Must Check Your Facebook While Robbing A House, Make Sure You Log Off When You Are Done

by Greg Bussmann on September 19, 2009

What’s that old saw about criminals not being very bright? We have all heard a variation on it. So it should come as no surprise when they do dumb things, right? I mean you could probably fill a blog up every day with the stupid things criminals do. But every once in a while, their stupidity rises to another level.

Consider the case of one Jonathan Parker, a 19 year old man from Pennsylvania, who while robbing a house, saw a computer, and rather than steal it, thought to himself that it would be a perfect time to check his Facebook page.

The problems started for Mr. Parker, or maybe concluded, when he failed to log off his Facebook page. The victim of the robbery later came home, realized she had been robbed, and then saw Mr. Parker’s profile still up on her computer screen.

The police connected the few remaining dots and now Mr. Parker faces a 10 year prison term if found guilty, and who is thinking he won’t be at this point?
