At what point does your bee house party go from merely the drunk uncle that will never leave, to “honey, you think we should call someone about all these bees?” One million? A hundred thousand? I am guessing the answer is a matter of your personal tolerance level for bees, but I would put the number much lower, at like 5 bees.
Apparently that is not a lot of bees, however, because the article says the hive was capable of producing sixty pounds of honey.
Now, as I said, I would not want that many bees in my house at one time, but if you think about all the honey in the world, sixty pounds is not a lot (the bees would beg to differ). I would have to Google this, but I would bet the average American eats nearly 60 pounds of honey annually.
Maybe the owners of the house were just trying to save some money, you know, with the gas prices and all.
